Calvin Peete was a true pioneer in the world of golf. The winner of 12 PGA tournament titles, 2-time member of the United States Ryder Cup Team, and a Vardon Trophy recipient for the PGA tour’s lowest scoring average in 1983, Calvin Peete was also the leading African-American PGA tournament title holder of all-time prior to the emergence of Tiger Woods. Calvin Peete was not only an inspiration to future generations of African American Golfers, Calvin Peete’s gracious style, and professionalism made him a highly and truly respected gentleman both on and off the course by golfers as well as non-golfers worldwide.
