Historical North Fort Myers

Before 1900, a small community of less than 50 people lived north of Fort Myers. During these early days, the community was known by other names, such as Cabana City, Samville, and Bayshore. These names have still left a footprint in the community.

During the 20th century, the community grew and many new businesses were established. While many were stores and services for locals, a large amount of these were the motels found on US 41 and restaurants created to serve travelers and tourists.

In the past few years, North Fort Myers has undergone considerable growth. For those who have been here for a long time, you may remember some of these historic images of North Fort Myers.
